Prime Minister Tarique Rahman commented that students must excel in everything alongside sports. He stated, “Only by being proficient in everything alongside sports can we build a beautiful and strong Bangladesh.”

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the final phase of the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament (Boys-Girls) held at Dhaka’s Army Stadium on June 20.

The Prime Minister said, “Our election promise was to arrange sports for children. Bangladesh will be recognized not only through cricket but also through football and other sports. The government will take all kinds of steps for the intellectual development of children.”

“The government will make all arrangements for those who want to sing, draw, or recite the Quran.”

Addressing the children, the head of government said, “You are the future of Bangladesh. You must be proficient in studies and cultural practices alongside sports. Only then can we build a beautiful, strong Bangladesh.”

“Players like Messi, Ronaldo, and Mbappé will emerge from among you. We must achieve a better position in the Olympics.”

The Prime Minister announced that the ‘Prime Minister’s Cup’ will be launched next year at both primary and secondary levels. He urged children to prepare themselves to become ambassadors and advance Bangladesh.

After step-by-step selection from over 65,000 government primary schools across the country, students from four primary schools played in the finals of the ‘Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament (Boys-Girls)’.

In the final round, the Girls’ Division championship was contested between Achargaon Government Primary School from Nandail Upazila, Mymensingh, and Jorgacha United Government Primary School from Santhia Upazila, Pabna. The Boys’ Division final saw Doriampur Model Government Primary School from Trishal face Dariyal Mia Government Primary School from Bakerganj Upazila, Barisal.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was present as the chief guest at this final event. Other guests included A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Minister of Education and Primary and Mass Education; Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education; and Mahdi Amin, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Education and Primary and Mass Education.
