BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in Malaysia on a state visit at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. As part of his first official foreign visit, he landed in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, on Sunday (June 21).

A special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister, his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and accompanying delegation landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 8:45 PM local time (6:45 PM Bangladesh time).

Among the accompanying delegates were Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Arifur Haque Chowdhury, State Minister for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir, Advisor on Overseas Employment Mahadi Amin, and Advisor on Defense AKM Shamsul Islam, along with other high-ranking officials.

Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam stated that the main priority for Bangladesh during this visit will be the labor market issue. Additionally, there is a possibility of signing two important agreements with Malaysia concerning cultural exchange and a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

According to diplomatic sources, after concluding his visit, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will travel directly to China at the invitation of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang. As per the schedule, he will depart from Kuala Lumpur for Dalian on June 22 and arrive there on the same evening.

This visit is considered crucial for expanding Bangladesh’s foreign labor market and strengthening international cooperation.
